Knights finish strong
By Jessica Burger

Summer is just around the bend and Crestview students know it. The end of the year is three days away for Crestview students, with the seniors getting out today. Exams are the buzz on everyone’s mind and the student body continues to study hard to go out strong. Senior Payton Davis says, “I am ready to graduate. I have studied hard for all of my exams and am ready for a break.”
The Crestview track team had their end of the season “sundae” banquet on Tuesday. The runners and throwers along with the coaches and parents attended the banquet while eating their personally made sundae. Special award winners for the night were CJ German and Rob Cook for the Captain’s Award, Zach Merkle for the Coach’s award, and Ryan Ramey for the Top Scorer’s Award and also the MVP. On the girl’s side of things, Katie Thompson received the Coach’s Award and Captain Award, Natalie Frey received a Record Breaker for 4x400m Relay, Captain Award, and Coach’s Award, and Jo Thompson received a Record Breaker for 4x400m Relay, Captain Award, and Most Valuable Athlete Award. Brittany Minnich received the Captain Award. Erika Mohr received the Coach’s Award, Layne Callow received a Record Breaker for 4x400m Relay, Courtney Perrot received the Record Breaker for 800m Run, and Erika Frey received the Top Scorer Award, Record Breaker for 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and 4x400m Relay. “This was my first year running track,” junior track athlete Kallie Gamble said. “I am very happy for all the athletes who received these awards. They worked very hard for them and were good role models for me.”
The boy’s baseball team is in regional semi action this afternoon in Springfield competing against Russia. The game begins at 2 p.m. and is going to be a scorcher. People may need to bring their sunscreen and root the Knights onto a victory.
Elementary children received their Character Counts awards this past Monday. The word of the month was “Responsibility” and children receiving these awards demonstrated outstanding qualities related to this word. Those qualities could include always having their homework done on time, being on time to class, or doing things without being asked.
This will be the last “Knights in the News” for the ’09-’10 school year so peace out and know that Crestview students wish you all a long and wonderful summer!
