Court Judge Phil W. Campbell has released the activity report for the Municipal month of December 2009.
There was a total of 339 cases for the month as follows: 250 traffic cases, 58 criminal cases, 31 civil cases. The Court performed 2 weddings.
A total of $49,176.59 in fines and costs was distributed to government agencies by the Municipal Court as follows:
$19,741.11 to the State of Ohio
$20,121 to the City of Van Wert
$7,954.23 to the County of Van Wert
$53 to Crime Stoppers
$447.25 to the Van Wert Sheriff's Office
$150 to the City of Delphos
$690 to ODNR
$20 to Mercer County Sheriff's Office

The above disbursements include:
$776 to Legal Aid
$2701.08 to Victims of Crime
$690 to Computerization
Monies collected for judgment creditors by garnishment for the month totaled $14,071.
Sheriff's fees in the amount of $477.25 were collected and returned to the sheriff's department.
The nature of the offense and the arresting authority are factors which affect the distribution of the fines.
The charging authorities were:
Traffic cases: Driving under the influence (15); State patrol 7, SHF 1, SVW 7.
General Traffic (235); OSP 179, Van Wert Police 46, Sheriff 8, Village 2..
Criminal Charges (58); Van Wert Police 31; State Police 3, Delphos 4, Sheriff 6, ODNR 9, Village 3, Health Dept. 2.
Probation office: 208 hours of community service were completed by convicted offenders for the month. Defendants on Electronic Monitored House Arrest have contributed, based upon their income, $840 against the cost. There were 173 days at $76 per day of electronically monitored house arrest which saved the county a total of $13,148.
