EDITH LOUISE WALKER

Edith Louise Walker, 84, of Rockford, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born August 9, 1925, in Mercer County, the daughter of the late Clayton Manley and Sarah Elizabeth (Reynolds) Proffitt. On June 20, 1943, in Salem, Ark., she married George F. Walker, who survives in Rockford.

Mrs. Walker was a homemaker and had worked at CTS in Berne, Ind. She attended Olive Branch Church of God.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, Donald W. (Carolyn) Walker of Ohio City, Ronald E. (Shirley) Walker of Van Wert and Ron (Jean) Worline of Denver, Pa.; three daughters, Becky (Bradley) Scheidt of Van Wert, and Debby Strickler and Connie Slagle, both of Ohio City; a brother, Billy D. (Louise) Proffitt of Van Wert; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, J.C. Glenn Proffitt, Carl Proffitt and Norville D. Proffitt; and two sisters, Pauline A. Clark and Mary Mueller, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 3, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Steven G. Waterman officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

The family will receive friends from 1-6 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Olive Branch Church of God or Community Health Professionals-Hospice.

  

SHIRLEY A. DAVIS

Shirley A. Davis, 74, of Van Wert, died at 8:10 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born August 22, 1935, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Richard and Marguerite (Lewis) Bell. On March 11, 1983, she married Ray B. Davis, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include four children, Cindy (Mike) Wamsley of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Greg (Becky) Jenkins, Chris (Bill) Spoor and Sandy (Ralph) Eversole, all of Van Wert; a daughter-in-law, Jan Jenkins of Van Wert; two stepchildren, Mike (Janelle) Davis and Randy (Rose) Davis, both of Decatur, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.

A son, Rick Jenkins; one stepdaughter, Sandy Little; a brother, Harry Bell; one sister, Mildred Hayes; and three grandchildren, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals-Visiting Nurses in Van Wert or the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
