HUGHS

Lois Elinore Hughs, 88, of Venedocia, died at 2:20 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born February 5, 1921, in Hillman, Mich., the daughter of the late Joseph Ray and Ines Armira (Allen) Johnson. On December 12, 1942, she married James Gerold Hughs, who preceded her in death on November 13, 2002.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Jack) Mauger of Warren, Ind., and Margaret Jane Hughs of Van Wert; a sister-in-law, Leota Johnson of Ohio City; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

For brothers, Wilbur H. Jonson, Max Johnson, Allen Johnson and Ervin Johnson; and four sisters, Fern Freed, Virginia Johnson, Velma Marshall and Orel Phillips, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Andy Atkins officiating. Burial will be in Goodwin Cemetery in York Township.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Monday, December 21, at the funeral home.
