BLYTHE

Gerald R. “Butch” Blythe, 64, of Van Wert, died at 6 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010, at his residence.

He was born December 4, 1945, in Toledo, the son of Joseph Pratt, who survives in Scott, and the late Cydonia “Donie” (Jewell) Pratt. He married Sharon A. (Watson) Blythe, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Blythe was retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in Paulding County, where he worked for many years. He was a member of Van Wert Victory Church in Van Wert and also umpired and coached youth baseball for many years.

In addition to his father and wife, survivors include six children, Jeffrey L. Blythe of Cecil, Lori A. (Allen) Farris of Cloverdale, Gregory R. (Heather) Blythe, Dawn M. Blythe, and Rhonda S. (Steve) Merkle, all of Van Wert, and Amy M. Enoch; four brothers, James M. Blythe of Toledo, Dennis “Buck” Pratt of Ottoville, Stanley Pratt of Scott, Howard J. Blythe of Tucker, Ga., and Kenneth Blythe of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Beverly “Babe” Phillips of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Joan Tope of Paulding, Rocksanna Daniels of Broughton, and Debbie Blythe-Alvey of Livingston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Casey Blythe, Nicole Blythe, Ashley Farris, Brittney Farris, Courtney Merkle, Hannah Merkle and Brock Blythe; and five great-grandchildren, Ke’Andre Blythe, Hope Blythe, Kelby Blythe, Kailey Blythe and Jordanne Blythe.

His biological father, J.R. Blythe; an infant son, Mark Alan Blythe; two sisters, Judy and Joyce, in infancy; and a brother, Robert Blythe, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Darrel Ramey officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, February 13, at the funeral home.

FREEMAN

Lori Howard Freeman lost her fight with cancer on Thursday, February 11, 2010, at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was bid farewell by her husband, Donald Freeman, and their children, 14-year-old Tanner and 5-year-old Maddison.

Lori was born January 2, 1968, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Jeanne Kyles and Gregory Howard Sr. Her father preceded her in death and she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Jack Alexander Sr. of Topeka.

She is also survived by her in-laws, David and Karen Freeman of Van Wert; and two sisters, Tracey (Steve) Enabnit of Houston, Texas, and Barb (Larry) Shump of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a brother, Gregory (Annette) Howard Jr. of El Paso, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at the Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas, at 10 a.m. Friday, February 19, with burial in the U.S. Military Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.

Lori has requested donations be made in her name to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
