JEWELL
Delbert Eugene “VW Wildman” Jewell, 58, of Van Wert, died at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Van Wert Manor in Van Wert.
He
was born February 16, 1952, in Lima, the son of the late Ernest D. and Carol
Joan (Wolfcale) Jewell.
Survivors include a son, Delbert E. (Brenda) Jewell II of Van Wert; an adopted son, Tommy (Alisha) Kline of Van Wert; one stepson, Robert “Bob” Fuelling of Van Wert; a brother, Don E. Jewell of Convoy; three sisters, Debbie (Jerry) Leiter, Penny (Clark) Roberts and Joette Fox Jewell, all of Van Wert; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a sister-in-law, Angie Foust of Scott; one brother-in-law, Tom Kline of Rockford; and the mother of his sons, Shirley Jewell of Van Wert.
A daughter, Angela Saco; one brother, Clyde Alan Jewell; and one sister, Cynthia Ann Kline, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, February 19, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Auglaize Chapel Cemetery near Oakwood, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, February 18, and from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

PLACKE
Elsie May Placke, 92, of Van Wert, died at 12:57 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2010, at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.
She was born September 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Marion and Ruby (Baer) Geething. In January 1946, she married Julian C. Placke, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Survivors include five sons, Gene (Ruth) Placke of Findlay, David (Cindy) Placke of Cleveland, Steve (Carolyn) Placke of Arizona, Mike (Cheryl) Placke of Van Wert and Karl (Christina) Placke of Delphos; a daughter, Rose Ann (Leonard) Smith of Wapakoneta; two brothers, Bob Geething of Illinois and Jim Geething of Van Wert; one sister, Virginia Geething of Grover Hill; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A son, Henry Placke, and one grandson, Vincent Placke, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 20, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with the Rev. Neil Hammond officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 19, at the funeral home.
