SHORT
Roger Dean Short, 57, of Van Wert, died at 7:22
a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born September 12, 1952, in Van Wert, the son of the late Elmer and Florence (DuVull) Short. On April 25, 1975, he married Mary E. (Martin) Short, who survives in Van Wert.
Mr. Short was a dedicated partner in all the family businesses for more than 30 years. He was a firm believer in 4-H and all of its values and served as an advisor to the Buckeye Ridge club.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Short of Van Wert and Lori (Cory) Bryan of Ohio City; three brothers, Thomas (Sharon) Short, Carl (Christi) Short and Kenneth Short, all of Van Wert; a sister, Clara (Dan) Konkle of Heber Springs, Ark.; and two grandchildren, Alan Short and Elizabeth Short, both of Van Wert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, at North Union United Methodist Church in rural Van Wert County, with the Rev. Mary Ann Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in Cavett.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, February 1, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.

COIL
Mary J. Coil, 88, of Spencerville, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Roselawn Manor Nursing Home in Spencerville, where she had resided the past four years.
She was born February 19, 1921, in Southworth in Allen County (Ohio), the daughter of the late Walter C. and Clarice P. (Smith) Harberl. On April 24, 1952, she married Daniel P. Leatherman, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1966. On October 15, 1968, she married Wilbur K. “Bill” Coil, who preceded her in death on October 11, 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet M. (James Jr.) Sites of Spencerville; two grandsons; and three great-granddaughters.
Two stepsons, Gerald A. and Wilbur G. Leatherman; and a sister, Ruth Howell, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 1, at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, with Pastor Kenneth Whetstone officiating. Burial will be in Spencerville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, January 31, at the funeral home.
