GAMES
Robert W. Games Sr., 90, of Van Wert, died at 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born December 6, 1918, in Manchester, the
son of the
late Wilsie C. and Vernon (Boone) Games. On August 16, 1941, he married Alice
(Doddridge) Games, who preceded him in death on April 1, 1988.
Mr. Games was a retired school administrator and
retired execu
tive
secretary for The Van Wert County Foundation. He was a member of First United
Methodist Church in Van Wert, which he also formerly served as treasurer.
Mr. Games was also a former member and past president of the Van Wert Kiwanis Club; a member of Elks Lodge 1197; and American Legion Post 178, all of Van Wert; the Van Wert County and Ohio Retired Teachers Associations; and Willow Bend Country Club in Van Wert, where he was a former club champion.
He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a graduate of Holbrook College and earned a master’s degree from Indiana University. He was a former commissioner of the Western Buckeye League and coached the Willshire Bearcats to the state finals in 1955 and 1956.
Survivors include three sons, Robert W. (Jackie) Games Jr. of Amherst, John (Emiley) Games of Marion and Larry (Diane) Games of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Robert Games, David Games, Lori Lundquist, Allison Games and Mark Games; and three great-grandchildren, Sidney Tino, Abigail Games and Rose Games.
A sister, Marjorie Webb, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 17, at the funeral home.

WIEMAN
Leigha Nicole Wieman, 26, of Celina, went home
to be with her beloved Lord and Savior after a brave battle with leukemia at
4:18 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at her residence.
She was born December 8, 1982, in Van Wert.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Olga (Weck) and Richard Kipp of Defiance; father Ralph Wieman of Van Wert; sister and brother-in-law, Brianda and Keith Earle of Churubusco, Ind.; half-sister Trina (Matt) Langdon of Van Wert; half-brother Michael (Linnie) Bradfield of Naples, Fla.; stepbrother Shawn Kipp of Oakwood; maternal grandfather Donald Weck of Van Wert; close friend Dustin Stein of Celina; and nieces and nephews, Brandt Parsons, Logan and Owen Earle, Victoria, Aaron, Alex, Elizabeth, and Anna Bradfield, Joseph Kipp and Brayden and Madison Langdon.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Lou Ella (Speck) Weck, and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Betty (Smith) Wieman.
She was a 2001 graduate of Parkway High School, were she was active in band, choir, Pep Band, 4-H in Van Wert, and cheerleading. She later coached the Parkway cheerleading squad from 2005-2008. She was employed at Coldwater High School as the band and choir assistant and cheerleading coach, where she affectionately referred to the students as “her kids.” She worked part-time at C.J. Highmarks Restaurant. She was an accomplished piano player and an avid fan of Rascall Flatts and NASCAR, but she especially loved the Coldwater Cavaliers and the Cincinnati Bengals. She attended Jennings Road Church of Christ in Van Wert.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Pastor David Ray officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 17, at the funeral home.
