DONALD D. EVANS

Donald D. Evans, 78, of Van Wert, died at 1:08 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born July 9, 1932, in Van Wert County, the son of the late John T. “Ted” and Opal E. (Fox) Evans. On June 22, 1974, he married Billie Jo (Wallace) Evans, who preceded him in death on February 18, 2007.

Survivors include two children, Terry A. (Janice) Evans of Muncie, Ind., and Shelly L. (James) Gidley of Carmel, Ind.; two stepchildren, Richard R. (Betty Jo) Moulton of Converse, Ind., and Michael L. (Brenda) Moulton of Rockford; one sister, Lois R. (Robert E.) Overholt of Gomer; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Theodore Phillip Evans (in infancy) and Charles Hull; and three sisters, Wanda Evans (in infancy) and Carol J. Cozad and Gloria J. Hernandez, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5830, both in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the funeral home, where a Disabled American Veterans memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening.

DAVID LEROY HEAD

David Leroy Head, 71, of Paulding, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Paulding County Hospital in Paulding.

He was born June 4, 1939, in Paulding County, the son of the late George and Iva R. (Robeson) Head.

Survivors include three daughters, Diana (John) Elson of Payne, Donna (Jerald) Brezovacki of Convoy and Julie (Ron) Gloor of Melrose; a brother, Ralph (Lois) Head of Oakwood; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his life partner, Linda Akers of Paulding.

A son, David Lee Head; two brothers, Harvey and Lester Head; and a sister, Lucille Parson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, with Pastor Drew Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery in Cecil.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, and an hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Emmanuel Baptist Church.
