NOFER

Donald A. Nofer, 74, of rural Van Wert, died at 10:31 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.

He was born October 21, 1934, in Harrison Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Albert George and Beatrice L. (Smith) Nofer. On June 17, 1956, he married Jacqueline (Elder) Nofer, who survives in the family home.

Mr. Nofer was a retired welder at Kennedy Manufacturing Company in Van Wert. He was a lifetime member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Harrison Township.

In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Robin (Kenneth) Foehl of Convoy, Timothy A. Nofer of Lewiston, Idaho, and Mark A. (Jenny) Nofer and Renee A. Smith, both of Van Wert; a brother, James Lynn (Jane) Nofer of Ohio City; one sister, Linda Sue (Larry) Jones of Versailles, Ky.; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Paul Dean Nofer, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at the funeral home.

SHARP

Vera Sharp, 87, of Cloverdale, died at 6:59 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at her residence.

She was born February 4, 1922, in Paulding County, the daughter of the late Michael and Susan (Hammons) Halter. On June 29, 1940, she married Elmer Sharp, who preceded her in death on October 7, 1992.

Survivors include a son, Donald (Helen) Sharp of Chatham, Mich.; three daughters, Diana (Larry) Carnahan, Connie (Mike) Walters and Mary Ann (Michael) McCoy, all of Cloverdale; one brother, Leroy (Edna) Halter of Oakwood; a sister, Ruth (Hugh) Fifer of Convoy; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Jerry Allen Sharp; three brothers, Murlen, Forrest and Alvin Halter; and two sisters, Meana Taylor and Mary Lewis; and a grandson, Rocky Allen Sharp, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Mandale Church of Christ, with the Rev. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, July 5, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos.
