SHAFFER

Margaret L. Shaffer, 89, of Van Wert, died at 8:44 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Community Health Professionals’ Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born August 26, 1919, in Mercer County, the daughter of the late L. William and Mina (Gunsett) Schumm. She married Charles N. “Jack” Shaffer, who preceded her in death on November 14, 1990.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Four brothers, Reinhardt, Edgar, Richard and Elmer Schumm, and a sister, Amanda Etzler, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions: Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center, Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio or First United Methodist Church in Van Wert.
