JOYCE N. KREISCHER

Joyce N. Kreischer, 86, of Van Wert, died at 8:44 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Convoy.

She was born February 29, 1924, in Cardin, Okla., the daughter of the late Carl F. and Eva F. (Fix) James. On April 25, 1946, in Columbus, Kan., she married Donald R. Kreischer, who preceded her in death on January 22, 1998.

Survivors include two children, David E. (Carolyn) Kreischer of Sidney and Diane (Don) Haller of Van Wert; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandson; and a niece and a nephew.

A brother, Bernard James; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo James; and a granddaughter, Gina Haller, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Gina Haller Scholarship Fund or Van Wert EMS Squad.

RITA M. GRANDSTAFF

Rita M. Grandstaff, 86, of Van Wert, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born June 9, 1924, in Braintree, Essex, England, the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Edith J. (Warren) Thompson. On April 6, 1945, in Braintree, England, she married David R. “Dick” Grandstaff, who preceded her in death on August 16, 1995.

Survivors include two children, Richard W. (Arlene) Grandstaff of Ohio City and Candice L. (David) Black of Convoy; a brother, Brian E. (Audrey) Thompson of Braintree, England; one sister-in-law, Helen Grandstaff of Van Wert; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews in the U.S. and England.

Three sisters, Cora Channell, Miriam Chopping and Hazel Gilder; and a brother-in-law, Robert E. Grandstaff, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. July 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center or the American Lung Association.
