MAIERT
Arthur Maiert, 90, of Van Wert, died at 11:05 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, at Community Health Professionals’ Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born June 19, 1919, in Camper, Manitoba,
Canada, the son of the late Louis and Elsie (Maiert) Maiert. On March 19, 1955,
in Detroit,
Mich.,
he married Marguerite C. (Untenberger) Maiert, who preceded him in death on
October 20, 2001.
Mr. Maiert retired from Chrysler Corporation in Van Wert. He was a tech sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen (William) Dowler of Convoy and Carol (Frank) Weiss of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, William Maiert of Detroit; four grandchildren, John (Becky) Dowler, Stephen (Casey) Dowler, Emilie (Michael) Bishop and Geoffrey Bauer; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Addyson and Sydney Dowler.
A brother, Earl Maiert, and two sisters, Edith and Herta, also preceded him in death.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, with the Rev. Mike Saylor officiating, with military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 10, and from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert.
