JOHN THOMAS MILLER

John Thomas Miller, 80, of Van Wert, died at 1:42 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born October 28, 1929, in Ohio City, the son of the late Howard Silas Miller and Grace C. (Emerling) Rickman.

On June 19, 1953, he married Roberta (Stepleton) Miller, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include four daughters, Chrisanne (Glenn) Turner, Barbara (Gary) Showalter and Nancy (Kurt) Conn, all of Van Wert and Kathy (George) Brake of Ohio City; a son, Jim (Tracy) Miller of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one sister, Evelyn L. Heath of Van Wert; 10 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor David Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery in Mercer County, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guards of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert County Regional Airport or a charity of donor’s choice.

CHRIS L. FOREMAN

Chris L. Foreman, 57, of New Bremen, died at 2 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at his residence.

He was born January 27, 1953, in Van Wert, the son of Norma (Wesco) Foreman, who survives in Van Wert, and the late Eugene D. Foreman.

Survivors include two brothers, David (Anne) Foreman of Van Wert and Dennis (Kathy) Foreman of White Pigeon, Mich.; and a sister, Denice (Les) Guyton of Convoy.

A brother, Terry L. Foreman, also preceded him in death.

There will be no public funeral service.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Thursday, June 17, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: American Heart Association.

JAMES J. SHOCK

James J. Shock, 91, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, N.M., died Saturday, June 12, 2010.

He was married to Patricia Shock, and she preceded him in death. His parents, James and Alvena Shock, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include seven daughters, Cheryl Guerin, Christie Kramm and Cathy Richey, all of Albuquerque, Carol Crumpler and Celia Cearns, both of Arkansas, Christ, Calysta Manzari of Washington and Cynthia Putman of Nevada; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and extended family in Ohio and Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the cemetery.
