WALLACE MERLIN WITTUNG
Wallace Merlin Wittung, 85, of rural Convoy, died at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He
was born December 19, 1924, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Henry and
Vernal Mary (Wallis) Wittung. On June 5, 1982, he married Jean R. (Lockerby)
Baxter Wittung, who survives at the residence.
Other survivors include two stepsons, Brad (Gloria) Baxter of Convoy and Brian (Tina) Baxter of Van Wert; two stepdaughters, Kim (Randy) Adams of Van Wert and Colette (Dean) Rhodes of Toledo; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A sister, Bertha Anise Wittung, who died in infancy, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Gregory Leigh of Convoy United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 and American Legion Post 178, both of Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 13, and an hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Convoy, Convoy EMS Squad or a charity of donor’s choice.
