FIGLEY

Paulette Sue Figley, 55, of Van Wert, died at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born June 28, 1954, in Celina, the daughter of Berniece (Colson) Huston, who survives in Celina, and the late Arthur Paul Huston. On October 5, 1974, she married Dennis L. Figley Sr., who survives in Van Wert.

Mrs. Figley was a custodian at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert for 31 years.

In addition to her mother and husband, survivors include four children, Dennis (Tonia) Figley Jr., Daniel Figley, Kimberly Figley and David Figley, all of Van Wert; four brothers, Thomas (Carol) Tillman and Jared “Mark” Warner, both of Winston Salem, N.C., and Mike and Jim Huston, both of Celina; and two sisters, Penny Warner of Rocky Mountain, N.C., and Candy Huston of Celina.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 8, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. William C. Haggis II officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

SHUMAKER

Dale A. Shumaker, 88, of Van Wert, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born January 29, 1922, in Convoy, the son of the late Frank and Lillian (Quackenbush) Shumaker. He married Tulvina M. (Knittle) Shumaker, who preceded him in death on September 15, 1995.

Survivors include three children, Lanny (Donna) Lemmon and Danny Shumaker, both of Middle Point, and Barry Shumaker of Haviland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Five brothers, Harold, Carl, Anson, Gene and Everett Shumaker; four sisters, Margie Anderson, Ruth Feasby, Grace Evans and Pauline Pollock; a grandchild; and one great-grandchild, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Ridge Cemetery near Middle Point.

The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
