CONRAD
Florence Elizabeth (Burke) Conrad, 80, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010, in Van Wert, following an extended illness.
She was born July 20, 1929, in Braddock, Pa., the daughter of the late Merle M. and Evelyn (Styche) Burke.
Mrs. Conrad was a homemaker, a part-time teacher, and active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She served the church through teaching Sunday School, as an elder, and clerk of session, and working with the Breakfast with Santa program. Florence served as a Girl Scout leader for 25 years, worked with district council, and served as Girl Scout district cookie chairman.
She was married to Clare Stewart Conrad on November 4, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 11, 2002. A son, Thomas Edward Conrad, and a son-in-law, Larry Yaeger, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by three children, Christine (Christian) Heizman of Van Wert, Linda (Alvie) Schuette of Delaware (Ohio), and Deborah Conrad of Xenia. She was a proud grandmother of Jacqueline (Rob) Welch of Van Wert; David (Margot) Heizman of Xenia; and Matthew Heizman of Seoul, South Korea, and six great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Kyra, Kaiven, and Keaten Welch of Van Wert and Vaeda and Gretchen Heizman of Xenia.
Services will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 990 Old Springfield Pike in Xenia at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, and an hour prior to the service at the church.
