BROWN

Harvey E. “Corky” Brown, 77, of Ohio City, died at 7:26 a.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born July 22, 1932, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Harvey A. Brown Sr. and Marjorie (Worthington) Brown. On May 30, 1954, he married Leona (Cain) Brown, who survives in Ohio City.

Other survivors include six children, Sheila (Tyrone) Campbell, Tony (Karen) Brown, Dina (Gaines Jr.) Moran and Phyllis (Joseph) Gant, all of Van Wert, Brian Brown of Mendon and Tracy (Lisa) Brown of Ohio City; three sisters, Betty (James) Thomas, Julie Connor and Margaret (John) Steinbacker, all of Fort Wayne, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

A brother, Donald Brown; one sister, Carol Billingsley; and a grandchild, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Greenbriar Cemetery in rural Ohio City, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at the funeral home.
