GERTRUDE M. THOMPSON

Gertrude M. “Trudy” Thompson, 92, of Rockford, died at 11:24 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born December 4, 1917, in Ada, the daughter of the late Bert and Gwena (Stemen) McBride. On August 31, 1941, she married Ernest C. Thompson, who preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.

Survivors include four sons, Robert D. (Louanna) Thompson, Steven M. (Marcia) Thompson, and Philip C. Thompson, all of Rockford, and Paul C. (Kathryn) Thompson of Gallup, N.M.; a daughter, Ann E. (Rev. Gary) Brown of Akron; one brother, Nelson (Margaret) McBride of Casa Grande, Ariz.; a sister, Leota (Clarence Fulton) Barker of Westfield, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Robert, Andrew, Howard and Lowell McBride; three sisters, Elizabeth Pizor, and Ruth and Helen McBride; a daughter-in-law, Gail Thompson; and one grandchild, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Rockford United Methodist Church, with Pastor Gary Brown and Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford and an hour prior to services Thursday at the church.

JUEL B. CASPER

Juel B. “Callie” Casper, 72, of Cecil, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at her residence.

She was born August 12, 1937, in Letcher County, Ky., the daughter of the late Watson and Frances (Adams) Blair. On December 8, 1956, she married John F. Casper, who preceded her in death in 1999.

Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth A. Rhodes of Sherwood and Stachie Hankinson of Cecil; three sons, John C. (Beverly) Casper of Defiance, Walter J. Casper of Cecil and Robert S. (Rita) Casper of Grover Hill; one sister, Una Stickel of West Jefferson; a brother, Shade Blair of Cecil; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a nephew.

Two sisters, Ina Blair and Reathie Adams; two brothers, John and James Blair; a grandson, John C. Casper Jr.; and one granddaughter, Kelly L. Casper, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery in Cecil.

The family will receive friends from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, and an hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
