STEWART

Dorothy M. Stewart, 87, of Van Wert, died at 12:01 a.m. Sunday, November 1, 2009, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born April 16, 1922, in Cassopolis, Mich., the daughter of the late Hiram G. and Maela (Brown) Stewart.

Miss Stewart was retired from the United States Post Office in Cleveland. She was a member of Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert. She was also a member of the Van Wert County Council on Aging, Van Wert YWCA, was a poll worker for the Van Wert County Board of Elections, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and helped judge the Holiday at Home Parade on the Fourth of July.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Otis, William and Harvey Stewart, and three sisters, Mabel Bass, Ellen Curtis and Alice Stewart, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Greenbriar Cemetery in Van Wert County.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 6, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
