KEVER

Marvin K. Kever, 86, of Convoy, died at 1:03 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born November 14, 1923, in Convoy, the son of the late Marlin Aaron and Cleo Esther (Ramsey) Kever. On September 15, 1945, he married Mary Jane Kever, who preceded him in death on November 23, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Dennis (Janet) Kever of Van Wert; one daughter, Patricia “Pat” (Roy) Hauter of Convoy; a close family friend, Patty (Walt) Holtzapple of Convoy; one brother, Lowell M. (Janet) Kever of Van Wert; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

A son, Douglas Alan Kever, and one sister, Jean Speelman, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Gregory Leigh officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy, with graveside military honors performed by the combined honors unit of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 30, and an hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Convoy EMS, Convoy United Methodist Church or Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

STOOPS

Joanna (Beemer) Stoops, 83, of Van Wert, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 27, 2009, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born May 4, 1926, in Huntington, Ind., the daughter of the late Ernest F. Beemer and Ocie Beatrice (Dull) Beemer Crabill. On May 29, 1946, she married James H. Stoops, who preceded her in death on July 17, 1996.

Survivors include two children, Frank H. (Marsha) Stoops of Gahanna and Linda Lou (Dennis) Saam of Van Wert; a stepbrother, Roger Crabill of Florida; one sister, Mildred A. Burkett of New Haven, Ind.; a stepsister, Helen Kerr of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Jerry L. Beemer and Benjamin F. Beemer; and a sister, Imogene Amburn, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 1, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Graveside services will be conducted in Woodland Cemetery at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 30, at the funeral home.
