THOMAS

Marlin H. Thomas, 87, of Van Wert, died at 12:08 a.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born January 6, 1922, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Henry M. and Edna (Scaer) Thomas. On September 18, 1943, he married W. Jeanne Thomas, who preceded him in death on May 22, 2001.

Survivors include four children, James P. (Roberta) Thomas and Dea M. (Jerry) Johnson, both of Van Wert, Jeffrey (Cathy) Thomas of Convoy and Cynthia L. Thomas of Fort Wayne, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A son, Michael W. Thomas, and two sisters, Margaret Good and Jeanne Pancake, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Kenneth Laffin officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 21, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals in Van Wert, Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of donor’s choice.
