JAY

Ned R. Jay, 83, of Haviland, died at 4:05 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.

He was born February 12, 1926, in Miami County, the son of the late Forrest and Dora (Arnett) Jay. On June 19, 1948, he married June (Bates) Jay, who survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Gary (Pat) Jay of Findlay and Ken (Denise) Jay of Van Wert; a daughter, Deborah (Ray) Cook of Sevierville, Tenn.; one brother, “Tiny” Jay; three sisters, Connie Fair, Betty Zirkle and Jody Ditmer; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Three brothers, Paul, Kenny and Robert Jay; four sisters, Mariam Harry, Gertrude Furlong, Gladys Jay and Isabelle Covault; and two grandchildren, Anthony Ned Jay and Jennifer Lynn Jay, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Village Cemetery in Pleasant Hill.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert.

Preferred memorials: Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center or Scott EMS Squad.
