MYERS

John O. Myers, 75, of Silver Lake, Ind., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Van Wert Manor nursing home.

He was born December 3, 1933, in Grover Hill, the son of the late Fred F. and Camilla (Smalley) Myers. On March 17, 1978, he married Constance A. Myers, who preceded him in death on January 31, 2009.

Survivors include a stepson, Donald R. Jenkins of Silver Lake; a sister-in-law, Valrea Myers of Van Wert; and many nieces and nephews.

Two stepchildren, Lowell E. Jenkins and Christine Faye Jenkins; two brothers, Joseph J. Myers and Robert W. Myers; and two sisters, Delores Taylor and Ida Mae Mosier, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, at Faith Baptist Church in North Manchester, Ind., with Rev. Andrew Gathany and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert. A funeral procession will leave Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Friday, October 30, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

BEST

William James Best, 76, of Delphos, died at 1:11 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born October 29, 1932, in Delphos, the son of the late Leander and Priscilla (Kiggins) Best. On December 27, 1952, he married Darlene (Wells) Best, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include a son, Larry Best of Delphos; two sisters, Sandy Averesch of Delphos and Marjorie Bruskotter of Great Falls, Mont.; one granddaughter; and a sister-in-law, Deborah Best of Washington state.

Two brothers, Bernard and John Best; and three sisters, Wilma Runyon, Ellen Fitzsimmons and Evelyn Kraft, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, October 30, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, with Pastor David Howell officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, with graveside military rites performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at the funeral home, where a Lions Club memorial service will be held at 7:30 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Northwest Ohio Eye Foundation or Trinity United Methodist Church in Delphos.

 

RULMAN

Norman J. Rulman, 97, of Paulding, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at Paulding County Hospital in Paulding.

He was born November 28, 1911, in Rockford, the son of the late Anthony H. and Philomenia “Minnie” (Herman) Rulman. On June 15, 1931, he married Florence E. (Dysert) Rulman, who preceded him in death on June 10, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, James (Arlene) Rulman of West Brook, Maine, and Thomas Rulman of Paulding; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Paul William Rulman; four brothers, Ernest, Ralph, Edward and Harold Rulman; and three sisters, Elizabeth Rulman, Mary Sacher and Eleanor Richmond, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, October 30, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, with Father G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Paulding.

The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, October 29, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 that evening.

Preferred memorials: Masses, John Paulding Historical Society, Gardens of Paulding or a charity of donor’s choice.
