JONES
Edward O. Jones, 76, of Van Wert, died at 7 a.m.
Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.
He was born October 14, 1933, in Jonestown, the son of the late Hugh F. and Emma Naomi (Price) Jones. On December 5, 1953, he married Lois (Fisher) Jones, who survives in Van Wert.

retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert after 40 years of service. He
was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert. He was also a veteran of
the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and a member of American Legion Post 178
in Van Wert and the Moose lodge in Celina. He was a life member of Elks Lodge
1197 in Van Wert and the 3 Rivers HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter in Fort
Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Shanes Masonic Lodge in Rockford, a member of the
All-American Indian Motorcycle Club and a member of the 82nd Airborne Division
Association.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Michael E. Jones of Gilbert, Ariz.; one brother, Hugh W. (Darlene) Jones of Jonestown; and a granddaughter, Caitlin Rose Jones.
A brother, Gordon Jones, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1-5:30 p.m. Sunday, November 1, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, where military rites will be performed by the combined honors units of Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert, at 5:30 that evening.

WHITT
Sylvia J. Whitt, 66, of Van Wert, died at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.
She was born July 11, 1943, in Mississippi, the daughter of the late Vernon and Ernestine (Smith) Liddell. She married Peter Whitt, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include five children, James O. (Robin) Simpson and Pervis L. (Sondra) Whitt, both of Van Wert, Michael Whitt and Gwen D. Simpson, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Bruce E. (Amy) Whitt of Indianapolis, Ind.; four brothers, Dennis Liddell of St. Louis, Samuel Liddell of Tulsa, Okla., B.G. Liddell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Smith Liddell of Nowata, Okla.; three sisters, Kate Brown and Ann Cox, both of Macon, Miss., and Sue Gill of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Dr. Jody Harr officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

KIMMET
William Kimmet, 97, of Delphos, died at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born March 29, 1912, the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Pothast) Kimmet. On June 16, 1937, he married Agnes (Hickey) Kimmet, who preceded him in death on January 7, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Donald (Virginia) Kimmet, George (Janice) Kimmet and Daniel (Barb) Kimmet; a daughter, Virginia (Paul) Meyer; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
A foster brother, Paul Schaffner; one sister, Beatrice Wurst; one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren, also preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, with Father Fleck officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Landeck.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 30, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:30 that evening.
