BOOK
Rev. Rea P. Book, 91, of Van Wert, died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born July 9, 1918, in southern Ohio, the
son of the late Asa and Lulu (Raver) Book. On May 25, 1941, he married Mary E.
Book, who
preceded
him in death on April 25, 1978. On August 11, 1979, he married Fern E.
(Redlinger) Debolt Book, who survives in Van Wert.
Other survivors include two sons, Frederick (Donna) Book of Douglas, Ga., and Steven Book of Youngstown; three daughters, Cheryl (Chris) Knapp of Tucson, Ariz., Linda (Ron) Miller of Delphos and Elaine (Don) Heindel of Willshire; three sisters, Mae Thomas, Helen Hurless and Pauline Sell, all of Rockford; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Joyce Leighner; two brothers, William and Russell Book; and one sister, Olive Leighner, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Timothy Burden officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honor guard of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
