ALSPACH
John E. Alspach, 76, of Van Wert, died at 6:45
a.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born March 9, 1933, in Van Wert, the son of the late Gordon and Grace (Gamble) Alspach.
Mr. Als
pach was a funeral director and former
owner of Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert. He was a member of First
Presbyterian Church in Van Wert and was a member of the church choir. He was a
past president of the American Heart Association and Van Wert County Chapter of
the American Red Cross. He was a 50-year life member of Elks Lodge 1197, was a
member of Van Wert Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of the United States Army. He
attended Miami University in Oxford and graduated from the Cincinnati College of
Mortuary Science.
Survivors include a brother, Rodger L. (JoAnn “Grif”) Alspach of Annapolis, Md.; and three nieces, Jennifer Alspach of London, England, Holly Cici of Dayton, Texas, and Darrien Tully of Aston, Pa.
A brother, David Alspach, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, at the funeral home.

REINDEL
Cyril J. Reindel, 83, of Delphos, died at 10:07 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born August 21, 1926, in Van Wert County,
the son of the late Stephen
and
Leona (Hesseling) Reindel. On June 1, 1948, he married Lillian (Youngpeter) Reindel, who preceded him in death on January 6,
1987. He then married Norma (Murray) Reindel on June 26, 1992, and she died June
24, 2008.
Mr. Reindel was a lifelong farmer and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, the Delphos Knights of Columbus and the American Legion in Delphos. He served in the U.S. Army with the occupation forces in Japan following World War II.
Survivors include four sons, Ronald (Kathy) Reindel, Gary (Linda) Reindel, Stephen Reindel and Tony Reindel, all of Delphos; a daughter, Sharon (Rick) Kleman of Fort Jennings; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A son, Phillip Reindel; one brother, Eugene Reindel; and a sister, Rita Niemeyer, also preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 24, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Jacob Gordon officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos, with graveside military rites performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos.
Preferred memorials: St. John’s Church.
BOWMAN
Barbara L Bowman, 77, of Hastings, Mich., and formerly of Van Wert, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2009, at her residence.
She was born December 6, 1931, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Francis and Vivian (Jerome) Anderson.

Ms. Bowman retired in 1996 after 42 years of service with Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, where she was in the church choir, taught Sunday School, was a youth leader, belonged to the United Methodist Women and was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was also a volunteer for the Pregnancy Life Center and Crisis Care Line.
Survivors include two children, Teresa (Terry) Kohn of Hastings, Mich., and Gary (Valerie) Bowman of Van Wert; a brother, James (Helen) Anderson of Van Wert; two sisters, Betty (Richard) Mottinger of Ohio City and Janice Roesner of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Shirley Partin of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Tanya Martin, Tracy Vandermade, Trent Kohn, Tiffany Offord and Shelly Bowman; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Dean Anderson, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Jay Nesselroad officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Friday, September 25, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials: Wesley UM Church or the Pregnancy Life Center.
