MURPHY
Danny Ray Murphy of High Point, N.C., and
formerly of Va
n Wert, died Friday, September 4, 2009.
Mr. Murphy, a former teacher and administrator in the Van Wert City Schools, is survived by his wife, Dottie; four children, Richard Murphy and Donna Murphy (Scott) Knight, both of Mechanicsville, Va., Danny (Darla) Murphy of High Point, N.C., and David (Holly) Murphy of Graham, N.C.; four siblings, Harold Murphy, Mary Agler and Dottie Dipple, all of Van Wert, and Bobby Murphy of Boardman; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert.
The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.

SHERER
Donald Gale Sherer, 85, of Middle Point, died at
3:34 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2009,
at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
He was born October 16, 1923, in Paulding County, the son of the late Charles and Leona (Whetstone) Sherer. He married Betty M. (Gillespie) Sherer, who survives in Middle Point.
Other survivors include two children, Gale (Joey) Sherer of Van Wert and Roy Sherer of Joelton, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Sherer, and a grandson, Gale Lynn Sherer, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 7, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with Pastor Dan Cook officiating. Burial will be in Blue Creek Cemetery in Paulding County, with military graveside rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both of Van Wert.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 6, at the funeral home.
