TURNER

Charles D. Turner, 75, of Van Wert, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born July 15, 1934, in Dayton, the son of the late Rev. Dr. O.B. and Martha (Sanders) Turner. He married June (Hoaglin) Turner, who survives in Van Wert.

Mr. Turner was a retired financial secretary for United Auto Workers Local 57 at International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Ind., and had also been an administrator for the Ohio Department of Transportation’s District 1 in Lima. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Van Wert and a former member of Wren Fire & EMS Department, a charter member of the Wren Lions Club, a former Wren village councilman, treasurer of the Wren Ballpark Association, a member of the Van Wert County Officials Association, an Ohio High School Athletic Association basketball official for 20 years and a church trustee.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Randy (Ginny) Turner of Hilliard and Rick (Theresa) Turner of Elida; three brothers, Robert (Cheryl) Turner of Baton Rouge, La., David Turner of Quincy, Mich., and Paul (Jeannie) Turner of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, June (Bill) Hey of Willshire and Judy (Ed) Wilkinson of Jacksonville, N.C.; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Turner, Jessica Turner, Lindsay Turner, Dustin Turner and Cory Turner.

Two brothers (in infancy), and a great-grandchild, Dylan Turner, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, September 14, at First Baptist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Steve Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

The family will receive friends from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.

DEITSCH

John Phillip Deitsch, 79, of Rockford, died at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born March 4, 1930, in Montezuma, the son of the late William and Rachel (Runkel) Deitsch. On November 27, 1958, he married Rosemary T. (Fowler) Deitsch, who survives in Rockford.

Other survivors include three sons, Aaron Deitsch of Rockford and Scott (Gaylene) Deitsch and Greg (Renee) Deitsch, both of Celina; two brothers, Forest “Gene” (Clara) Deitsch of West Bend, Wis., and Carl (Dolores) Deitsch of Celina; and five grandchildren.

Four brothers, Dale, Loyde, Gerald and Ralph Deitsch, and seven sisters, Mabel Denny, Iva Mong, Velva Goubeau, Ruth Young, Dorothy Larie, Mary Colson and Mildred Goodwin, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 12, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Father Richard Reidel officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 11, and an hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials: Rockford Squad of the Mercer County EMS.

KRICK

Ruth Loneta Krick, 88, of Van Wert, died at 11:56 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born July 31, 1921, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Gale Hullinger and Helen B. (Stephenson) Essex. She first married Robert West, then Arthur Krick and then Clifford Thompson.

Mrs. Krick spent most of her life working in retail sales and service and retired from the Van Wert Area Visiting Nurses Association.

Survivors include two sons, Jon West of Van Wert and Russell (Cathy) Krick of Convoy; three grandchildren, Aimee (Duane) Shears of Edwardsburg, Mich., Alicia (Andrew) Perrott of Noblesville, Ind., and Jamie Krick of Huntington Beach, Calif.; and four great-grandchildren, Shayla and Zachary Shears of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and Hayden and Hudson Perrott of Noblesville, Ind.

 A granddaughter, Kelli McGinnis, also preceded her in death.

There will be no funeral services and no visitation.
