PLC holds November 'Bridges' meeting

The Pregnancy Life Center recently held its last “Bridges” meeting before the holidays. With that in mind, the evening was made extra special with a drawing to win a gift certificate to Walmart. There were a total of five gift certificates, four of them for $25 and one for $50. “Bridges” is a monthly meeting held at Trinity United Methodist Church.

This is one of several ways for Pregnancy Life Center clients to earn baby bucks and a baby store pass. The evening offers a relaxed environment with door prizes, snacks, and a family devotional done by Pastor Tim Burden of Trinity United Methodist. The Pregnancy Life Center is available to any mother who is pregnant or has a child under the age of two. The premise of the program is that by attending classes, Bridges, or church a client can earn baby bucks and a pass. In return they are able to shop in the PLC’s baby store.  The store contains most any baby item including clothes, diapers, wipes, furniture, and hygiene items.

The Pregnancy Life Center is a local ministry with both its monetary and baby store needs being 100 percent locally funded.  This is done through church, corporate, and individual donations as well as through two yearly fundraisers, the Walk for Life and Sanctity of Life.

This coming year’s Sanctity of Life event will be hosted by Calvary Evangelical Church and will feature the group Murk. Murk is a husband and wife duo comprised of Bill Murk, who is a premier violinist, and  his wife, Jeanine. This special event will take place on Sunday, January 31, 2010, beginning at 6 p.m.  For more information on this group please visit www.billmurk.com

In addition to Murk, there will be several PLC clients who will share the impact the PLC has had on their life and their child’s.  Keep watch at your local churches as more information will be made available as the event draws near.

With the year 2009 coming to a close please keep in mind that any donations made to the Pregnancy Life Center are tax-deductible. Those who have not met their charitable giving limits for the year, please consider the PLC as a way to meet that.  For more information about the agency, call  419.238.9177 or visit the PLC website at www.pregnancylifecenter.org

DAR meets at Willow Bend
The Isaac Van Wart Chapter DAR held their November meting at the Willow Bend Country Club. It was the Regents' Luncheon with a very special flavor. The atmosphere was patriotic and the topic was American History. Ohio State Regent, Patsy Johnson Gaines gave a monologue about General "Mad" Anthony Wayne through the eyes of his wife, Mary Wayne. The audience was fascinated with her story about his family and his life as a soldier. Julie Moyer, Isaac Van Wart Chapter member, added to the feeling of patriotism with her renditions of America the Beautiful, the Battle Hymn of the Republic and the Star Spangled Banner.
